U8's First match of the season

The first match of the season was played away at Millom. Given the early start and the long drive there was a fantastic turnout of both players and supporting parents for what promises to be a great season with this age group.

Keswick suffered an early loss when Rory Moir clashed heads with an opposition player as he focused on the try line in the first play of the match. Millom appeared to be the stronger team in the initial stages taking three unanswered scores before Keswick settled into the match. Following this Keswick came alive and played extremely well for the rest of the game. Three tries in the corners for Lewis Edwards coupled with tries from Emily Graves, Zac Day, Jamie Thomas and Ruby Ratcliffe kept Keswick in the game. Special mention must go to Frazer Kirkbride for his consistent opening passes, Vivien Alcorn and Ruby Attwood for great support play and Seth Relph for some excellent handling skills. The real triumph of the day was the excellent defensive tagging that all the players were involved in.

A friendly 10 minute match after the final whistle saw a relaxed and confident Keswick score some great tries in particular from the dancing feet of Zac Day down the touch line, Rory Moir (returning from injury!) with a brave individual effort right through the middle and new boys Seth Relph and Jamie Thomas through some excellent support play.

With at least six of the ten strong team playing in their first competitive match this was an excellent start to the season. Well done Keswick under Eights.
