On Friday evening, Keswick Second XV travelled to Carlisle for a game under floodlights. The rain had made the lines difficult to see, not helped by the less than perfect lighting, but the teams were evenly matched, making for a close contest. Carlisle were first to score, taking a 7-0 lead, before a Steve Holloway penalty reduced the lead to 4 points. On the cusp of half time Carlisle crossed the Keswick line and touched down, but the referee was called back by the touch judge and no try given. Carlisle scored another converted try to move further ahead at 14-3 before an unconverted try by Keswick reduced the deficit to 6 points at 14-8. That was the score when the final whistle went, with Keswick having scored 8 of the 11 points Carlisle Second XV have conceded so far this season.
The next game at Davidson Park is Keswick 2nd XV against Penrith 2nd XV on Friday evening, kick off at 7pm.
