Keswick Rugby Football Club will welcome a very special visitor on Thursday 19th February as the Women’s Rugby World Cup Trophy arrives at the club as part of its national tour.
The visit follows an exciting period for women’s rugby, after the Red Roses’ triumphant victory in the 2025 Women’s Rugby World Cup last autumn. Since the tournament, the trophy has been travelling across the country, with Cumbria — and Keswick — proudly included in the celebrations.
Keswick RFC has its own strong connection to England’s success. Red Roses internationals Abbie Ward and May Campbell both began their rugby journeys at Keswick before progressing to represent England on the world stage and becoming World Champions.
To mark the occasion, the club will host open rugby sessions for juniors of all age groups, welcoming both experienced players and those new to the sport. The session will run from 4:00pm to 5:30pm and will be led by coaches Garry Holmes and Mark Lee, supported by other Keswick RFC coaches.
As a highlight of the afternoon, players, families and supporters will have the opportunity to take photographs with the Women’s Rugby World Cup Trophy, which will be on display in Bar 1879 from 3:00pm to 8:00pm.
Everyone is welcome to attend and celebrate this special occasion.
