The squads return to rugby after the Christmas break took 16 well conditioned team members to face a very capable opposition.
Keswick started well with solid tackling and good runs, from forwards and backs. Keswick were unable to break the line and eventually from small mistakes lost possession. Penrith used hard runs absorbing players and leaving holes in the defence. Keswick worked hard, only could not find an answer to shut them down. Rucks proved difficult to secure with timing and energy proving illusive.
The first half saw a Penrith side score five hard fought converted tries.
The second half saw a hungrier Keswick team who were able to secure more ball. Godfrey, Coombes and Fugle all made hard yards during the match, sadly well executed tackling and counter rucking by Penrith kept them at bay.
A few crucial decisions went against Keswick and the momentum of the game kept Keswick at bay from scoring points today. Final score 55-0
Individually the boys played well and matched the opposition, as a team we have much to do.
Ray and Wharmby have work to do before the next match.
Together we move forward.
