U16 Lakers travelled to Kendal today for a friendly fixture we knew they were borrowing a couple of Kirkby Lonsdale players imagine our surprise when we were faced with a joint squad of 28, that aside the Lakers 19 strong squad stuck in and the first half was fast and furious with strong attacking play from both sides although Kendal were stronger in the back line and scored 2 tries through a combination of good running and poor defence, Lakers had several fazes of play in kendals 22 when eventually after several gas balls Ben Grosset crossed for a well earned try converted by Jack Roberts, after the break Kendal had made lots of changes and the Lakers were more dominant but lacked the accuracy needed to cross the line until from a scrum Seth Relph picked from the base and powered over to score a unconverted try, the rest of the half the Lakers had several scoring opportunities but ether had white line fever or made poor decisions, Kendal Lonsdale scored a try in the second half purely poor tiered defence, all in all the Lakers played a solid game with lots of positives and some work ons.
